FAQ
Questions people ask before they begin.
- What is life coaching, in your approach?
- A weekly one-on-one conversation about what is actually going on in your life - work, people, stress, decisions - with someone whose job is to help you get to the bottom of it. Less advice-giving than you might expect: the clearer you can see a situation, the more obvious the right move becomes.
- Is this therapy?
- No. Coaching is forward-looking work on the situations you are in now, the patterns you keep repeating, and the choices in front of you. It is not a substitute for therapy or medical care. If something needs clinical support, Pankaj will say so.
- Will this actually solve my problems?
- It will not rearrange your circumstances for you. It will change how you see and meet them, which is what most people find they were really looking for.
- How many sessions will I need?
- There is no fixed number, and no end date built in. Sessions are weekly, and people stay for as long as the work is useful - some for a few months, some far longer. You decide when it is done. The free conversation is the honest place to work out where to start.
- Can I just read the books first?
- Yes, and many people do - though the coaching assumes nothing about having read them. The books are the least expensive way to get a feel for how Pankaj thinks. Start with Breaking the Impossible Loop; Beyond the Impossible Loop picks up where it ends.
- What actually happens in a session?
- Sixty minutes, one-on-one, online. You bring whatever is live that week - a person, a decision, a stress you cannot put down - and the two of you work through what is really going on and what you want to do about it. Most people leave with one thing clear that was not clear an hour earlier.
- Do you work with leaders and teams?
- Yes. Thirty-plus years of leadership experience inform the work with professionals, executives, and organizations. Get in touch to talk about it.
